History
Named for Major General Nathanael Greene, a commander of the American forces, Greensboro was established near the geographic center of Guilford County. Property could be purchased for $98 and streets were laid out, with then Governor Morehead asking that Greensboro being included on a new railroad. The city grew and was nicknamed “The Gate City” because it became a transportation hub for the entire state. By the 1890’s, the city had attracted northern industrialists changing Greensboro from a city within a decade. By 1900 Greensboro was home to large scale factories and was considered the home of the Southern textile industry. Today, Greensboro is home to industry and the arts, having grown from a small village to a city

The Bog Garden Accessed by an elevated boardwalk, The Bog Garden has a half mile of trails that wind through a garden of plants and wildlife.
World War Memorial Stadium The oldest continuously used professional baseball facilities in the nation, it was replaced in 2005. Today, it offers a glimpse to a simpler time, welcoming visitors year round
Golf With 15 golf courses to choose from, there’s a course to suit every taste, and you can work on your short game or play a leisurely 18 holes year round!
